Worms Up!

WILLASTON, England, June 29 (UPI) — A 10-year-old girl set a new world record by bringing 567 worms
up from the ground during Britain’s World Worm Charming Championships.
Sophie Smith of Willaston, England, won the competition in her village Saturday by besting the previous world record of 511 worms listed in the Guinness Book of World Records, The Daily Telegraph reported Monday.

Lex Luger

Lawrence Pfohl, better known as the wrestler Lex Luger, was charged with possession of an illegal substance in May 2003. While investigating the death of Pfohl’s live-in girlfriend, wresting personality Miss Elizabeth (Elizabeth Hulette), Cobb County, Georgia, police found illegal bodybuilding drugs in his home. This arrest came on the heels of another arrest; a few weeks earlier Pfohl had been charged with misdemeanor battery after allegedly striking Hulette during a domestic dispute.

Jesse Jackson

Activist Jesse Jackson was arrested in December 1999 and charged with criminal trespass when he walked onto the grounds of an Illinois high school where a debate was raging around the penalization of several students expelled for fighting. Jackson was recently arrested and charged again for the same crime in connection with a demonstration at a gun shop in Riverdale, Illinois, when he refused to leave the store as ordered by police.

Jane Fonda

Actress and activist Jane Fonda was arrested in November 1970 for allegedly kicking a police officer who was trying to arrest her on drug charges. Fonda was in possession of numerous bottles of pills, later proven to be vitamins and legally-prescribed medication. All charges were subsequently dropped.

Frank Sinatra

New Jersey crooner Frank Sinatra was arrested by police in Bergen County, New Jersey in 1938 on charges of adultery and seduction. The charges were later dismissed. Sinatra remained under surveillance by the FBI through the course of his life under suspicion of Mafia-related activity. Despite over two thousand pages of allegations, Sinatra was never charged.

Eminem

Eminem (whose legal name is Marshall Mathers, III) faced two arrests in Michigan in June 2000. Warren authorities charged the rapper with carrying a concealed weapon and assault, stemming from a fight with a man who kissed Eminem’s estranged wife, Kim. Meanwhile, Royal Oak authorities charged him with brandishing a weapon during a fight in a parking lot with members of Insane Clown Posse, a rival rap group. He received probation in both cases.

Axl Rose

A February 1998 incident at Phoenix’s Sky Harbor Airport in Arizona led Guns N’ Roses lead singer Axl Rose to plead guilty to a misdemeanor charge of disturbing the peace. Rose cursed and shook his fist at an airport supervisor, who wanted to look through the singer’s bags at a security checkpoint.

Carmen Electra

Miami Beach police arrested Tara Patrick (better known as Carmen Electra) in November 1999 on battery charges after a fight in her hotel room with former NBA-star Dennis Rodman, her husband. However, police later dropped the charges against the Baywatch star after both she and Rodman refused to press charges. A judge did, however, order the pair to stay at least 500 feet away from each other.

Undressed Plane Passenger

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) – A US Airways flight to Los Angeles was diverted to Albuquerque after a passenger removed all of his clothing mid-flight, forcing flight attendants to cover him with a blanket before he was arrested. Keith Wright, 50, of the Bronx in New York, was taken into custody by airport authorities after he allegedly disrobed while sitting in his seat in the back of Flight 705 on Tuesday evening, authorities said.

Swimming Pool for Pigs

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) – An 800-pound hog that survived on its own for a week after a truck flipped while on its way to a slaughterhouse has surfaced in a swimming pool at a home near the crash site. LeAnn Baldy, whose house is only yards from Interstate 430, said Monday she noticed her pool was suddenly overflowing and then saw the immersed pig, which was having a drink in the pool.
About 90 hogs were in the trailer when it overturned where I-430 meets I-40, and about 60 survived. …
